These super creative students were divided into community building teams today. As a team, they had a discussion to decide what type of community they would build...urban or rural. Then they got straight to work. I simply LOVE all of their ideas!

Giving Back
Recently, our Reading class read a story called Jamaica Louise James in which a little girl's grandma worked in a subway booth and she beautified the subway station by making beautiful drawings. Since many of the students in my class only know Subway to be a restaurant, I called upon my friend Tony to help. Tony grew up here in Marshall and now lives in New York. He videoed a ride on the subway for us and sent it to our class. When I asked if he would be willing to make a video, his reply was "I love any opportunity to give back to the children". I wanna live like that.
I sent the subway video out to my kiddos on their iPads, and they wrote down their thoughts and reflections. Then, they made their own videos for Tony and sent them back to me. I compiled them and sent them on to New York for Tony.
Here is the students' video:
Our class has a new friend who we never could have visited without the gift of technology in our classroom. Thank you, Tony, for letting us "visit" the subway!!! We loved it!!!
